American College of Surgeons Scholarships Details
The American College of Surgeons, through its Division of Education and International Relations Committee, is delighted to announce the availability of two international scholarships dedicated to advancing surgical education.
With each award valued at $10,000, these scholarships aim to support young faculty members from countries outside the United States and Canada.
The recipients will engage in diverse educational opportunities, fostering faculty development and acquiring new knowledge and skills in surgical education and training.
American College of Surgeons Scholarships Requirements
To be eligible for the undergraduate American College of Surgeons Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Applicants must be graduates of schools of medicine.
- Age requirement: Between 30 and 45 years old at the time of application submission.
- Applications must be submitted from the intended permanent location of the applicant.
- Surgical practice and teaching experience of at least five years following the completion of all formal training (including fellowships and scholarships) are mandatory.
- A fully completed online application form, along with accompanying materials, must be submitted in English. A curriculum vitae alone is not acceptable.
- Three independently prepared letters of recommendation are required, with one from the chair of the department where the applicant holds an academic appointment. This letter should provide evidence of support for the scholar’s objectives from the leadership at the home institution.
- The scholarships must be utilized in the designated year and cannot be postponed.
- Awardees are expected to submit a written report upon their return, focusing on the visit’s value and the potential positive impact on patients in their home country.
- Unsuccessful applicants may reapply twice, submitting a new application form with updated supporting documentation.

American College of Surgeons Scholarships Benefits and Timeline
The American College of Surgeons Scholarships offer;
- Each scholarship offers a stipend of $10,000.
- Covers travel and per diem expenses in the U.S.
- Supports the cost of courses undertaken at the Clinical Congress and the designated center(s) to be visited.
- Gratis registration for the Clinical Congress.
- Assistance in securing thrifty housing in the Clinical Congress city (Boston, MA, in 2024).
Application Procedure
- To be considered by the selection committee, applicants must fulfill all requirements.
- All applications and supporting documentation must reach the International Administrator no later than January 15, 2024, for attendance at Clinical Congress 2024.
