The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) is inviting applications for its International Stipend and Fee Research Scholarship (DPHD) for students commencing or undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2027

University of Southern Queensland Scholarship offers full tuition fees for a maximum period of three years full-time and living stipend of AUD $39,000 per annum.

UniSQ offers an International PhD Stipend and Fees Scholarship for international students studying or commencing the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2027. Applications in all areas of research are welcome, but these should be aligned with UniSQ’s flagship areas

Students applying for a scholarship should discuss the flagship area most closely aligned to their proposed research with their potential supervisor and select this flagship in the application system.

Each flagship scholarship offers an optional Industry Stream, which requires a mandatory 60-day industry internship. Co-funded scholarships and industry-funded stipend top-ups are highly desirable.

Selected candidates will receive a comprehensive package:

  • Stipend: AUD $39,000 per annum for living costs.
  • Tuition Fees: Covered for up to three years of full-time study (any prior study time towards the PhD will be deducted from this period).
  • Industry Internship: Minimum of 60 days for students in the Industry Stream.

To be considered for the 2027 award, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or equivalent level;
  • be eligible to be enrolled full-time on-campus in the PhD program at UniSQ; 
  • be an international student, not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident; and
  • commence or continue their PhD study in 2027.

To complete your University of Southern Queensland Scholarship application, prepare the following documents in advance:

  • Application Form
  • Supervisor Support Letter.
  • Curriculum Vitae (including research publications and presentations).
  • Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal.
  • Proof of Citizenship.
  • Statement of Claim addressing the selection criteria.
  • Education Qualifications (testamur and transcripts for all degrees).
  • For the Industry Stream, a Letter of Support from the industry partner must be submitted. Continuing students must be within 18 months of commencing their studies full-time (or 36 months part-time) by December 2026 to be eligible.
