University of Leeds Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarship Details

The University of Leeds Ferguson Scholarship is a one-year fully funded scholarship for applicants from developing countries wishing to pursue full-time Taught Master’s study in selected schools.

The scholarships are funded jointly by the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust and the University of Leeds.

The Allan and Nesta Ferguson Scholarship is available for applicants applying for programmes of study related to economic, social, or technological development (with the exception of the Leeds MBA).

University of Leeds Ferguson Scholarship Requirements

To be eligible for the postgraduate University of Leeds Ferguson Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Be from developing countries
  • Be ready to undertake a one-year taught Master’s programme of study in selected Schools, with areas of study related to the economic, social or technological development of the applicant’s home country.
  • Must hold, or expect to hold by September 2026, a First Degree at undergraduate level equivalent to at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree.
  • Should either have graduated with the appropriate First Degree or be in their final year of study.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the University’s English Language requirements by 2 February 2026.
  • Not have undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country.
  • be unable themselves, or through their families, to study in the UK.
  • These awards are only available to applicants who are liable to pay academic fees at the International fee rate.

  • Each School selects a shortlist of applicants whom they wish to recommend for the award.
  • The University of Leeds Scholarship Selection Panel then meets to consider the shortlists and select the successful applicants and reserves.
  • Unsuccessful applicants can expect to be notified of the application outcome approximately 4 weeks after the application closing date.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application within 10 weeks of the application closing date.
