The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program strives to provide access to quality and inclusive education to young people from Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship shares and promotes the values of inclusion, leadership and access to education championed by the Mastercard Foundation.
By opening the doors to top academic programmes and equipping each Scholar with transferable personal skills they can take into the job market, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program aims to train a new generation of change-makers.
Graduates of the Program are driven by a desire to make a real and lasting impact on the foremost issues facing the African continent.
Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the undergraduate and graduate Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship, applicants must:
- be a resident and a graduating high school or bachelor’s student of a country within Sub-Saharan Africa;
- demonstrate financial need equivalent to that of the lowest two quintiles of your country;
- have very strong academic results within your school system;
- have a record of leadership and extracurricular involvement;
- maintain a strong desire to return to Africa to assist and work towards enhanced regional socioeconomic development;
- be graduating from a recognized secondary school or tertiary institutuion, or have completed the necessary academic requirements; and
- satisfy the Sciences Po university requirements.

As a Mastercard applicant, you are eligible to apply for any of the programmes offered by the Sciences Po.
2025 Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship in France Benefits and Timeline
The Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship beneficiaries will receive holistic support which includes:
- Financial Aid: The scholarship provided by the program cover the complete cost of tuition, accommodation, travel expenses, laptop, and living expenses for students studying at Sciences Po in France.
- Specialized Support: Scholars receive personalized support throughout their academic journey, including pre-departure and arrival assistance, a dedicated housing program, and access to a wide range of resources.
- This includes career support, guidance, internships, access to business incubators, and participation in career-focused events.
- Mentoring Program: Sciences Po Alumni’s Africa Division co-runs a mentoring program to further support scholars in their academic and career development.
Required Documents
You will be submitting the following while applying for the 2024 Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarships;
- A completed online application – all applicable sections must be filled out, including contact information, financial information, personal details and responses to essay questions.
- Financial documents – upload a scanned copy of financial documentation.
- Transcript – upload a scanned copy of your secondary school transcript and any other academic information.
- Two references – provide the names and contact details of two individuals who will serve as your referees.
How To Apply for Sciences Po Mastercard Scholarship 2025
- To be selected for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, you must first be accepted onto a Master’s programme at one of Sciences Po’s seven Graduate Schools.
- From September 2024, applications for Sciences Po Master’s programmes and for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will be handled through a single procedure and platform.
- You will need to apply for your chosen Master’s programme and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program via the international graduate admissions procedure.
