The Oyo State Scholarship Board has announced that it has commenced the disbursement of funds to the 2024/25 Oyo State Bursary candidates.
This development was revealed by the Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Affairs to Governor Seyi Makinde on Friday, March 15, at Ibadan, the state’s capital.

Following a week-long screening of over 3000 candidates at the Oyo State Ministry of Education between Monday and Friday, selected candidates can now expect to get their accounts credited as appropriate.

About the 2024/2024 Oyo State Scholarship Board Bursary
In July 2024, the Oyo State Scholarship Board announced the applications for the 2024/2025 bursary award.
Undergraduate students of Oyo State origin who were in their final year of a bachelor’s degree, or an HND were invited to submit their applications. The call for applications was also extended to students pursuing medical, maritime, and aviation courses in Nigerian tertiary institutions,
Applications for the Oyo State Bursary Award were accepted from interested and qualified candidates between July and August 30th, 2024.
Oyo State Scholarship Board Screening
After a series of reviews and considerations, shorlisted candidates were invited by the board for screening at the state’s Ministry of Education Secretariat in Ibadan.

The Oyo State Ministry of Education Secretariat is located within the premises of the Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi Gate, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Oyo State Bursary Award Screening Dates
Screening of the shortlisted candidates was scheduled as follows;
- Final Year Undergraduate/HND Students (Monday, March 10th – Thursday, March 13th, 2025)
- Aviation, Maritime, and Medical Students (Friday, March 15th, 2025)

Documents Required for Oyo State Bursary Payment
You will be required to provide the following documents for your screening at the venue;
- Application Form
- Local Government Identification Certificate
- Admission Letter
- School ID Card
- Bank Details which include Bank SWIFT/SORT cod
Oyo State Bursary Payment
The Oyo State Bursary Payment will commence from Friday to all selected and screened candidates.
How much is the OYO state Bursary?
- This bursary award will be in different cash awards: Undergraduates and HND Final year Students get N100,000 each;
- Final year Clinical Students get N500,000: Aviation and Maritime Students get N500, 000 each to assist with their educational expenses.
- Master/PhD students who are studying in public Nigeria universities are to get N200, 000 each as bursary.
Participating Universities for Oyo State Bursary
Students across all Nigerian universities and colleges are eligible to apply for the bursary award provided they are of Oyo State origin.
Oyo State Scholarship Board Begins Payment for 2024/2025 Bursary Applicants
The disbursement of the 2024/2025 is a very commendable effort by the Oyo State Government.
However, students at the screening venue lamented the inconsistency of the bursary payment as they claimed to have not been paid for several years despite their eligibility.
Students across tertiary institutions in Nigeria have had to rely on their parents, part-time jobs, or the Federal Government Students’ Loan.
