Eiffel Scholarship Details
The Eiffel scholarship program is a tool developed by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract the best foreign students to master’s and doctoral level degree programs.
It enables the training of future foreign decision-makers, from the private and public sectors, in priority fields of study.
The France Eiffel Excellence Scholarship also aims to stimulate applications from foreign students aged 27 years or less for the master’s level and 32 years or less for the doctorate level.
2025 France Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Requirements
To be considered for the France Eiffel Excellence Scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must be foreign nationals; individuals with French nationality are not eligible.
- For master’s programs, candidates must be no older than 27. For PhD programs, candidates must be no older than 32.
- They must secure admission for a full-time Master’s or PhD program at a recognized tertiary institution in France
- Only applications submitted by French educational establishments are accepted. These establishments must enroll scholarship recipients in the selected course of study. Applications submitted through other means will not be considered.
- The Eiffel Program does not apply to French-run master’s courses abroad. Non-PhD scholarship holders must complete at least 75% of their course in France. It also does not cover training under an apprenticeship contract or a professional training contract.
- Educational institutions that shortlist non-French speaking applicants must ensure that the candidates’ French language skills are sufficient to integrate successfully into their intended courses.

Eiffel Scholarship Benefits

For Master’s Level:
- A monthly allowance of €1,181.
- Additional services, including international airfare, domestic travel support, insurance, assistance in finding accommodation, and cultural activities.
For Doctoral Level:
- A monthly allowance of €1,800.

Both components of the program cover the academic year corresponding to the application call. The funded study period must commence between September 1 and December 31 of the award year.
Eiffel Scholarship Timeline
For Master’s Level:
- The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 12 months for awardees entering the second year of a master’s program (M2).
- A maximum of 24 months for awardees entering the first year of a master’s program (M1).
- A maximum of 36 months for awardees entering an engineering program.
For Doctoral Level:
- Eiffel scholarships are granted for a period of 6 to 36 months from September 1 of the award year.
- The scholarship duration varies based on the year of enrollment, especially for candidates already involved in joint doctoral programs with partner institutions abroad.
