The DLA Piper Global Scholarship is a two-year programme that supports talented law students (Fellows) from developing countries to reach their potential and contribute to the rule of law in their communities.

DLA Piper Global Scholarship Details

Each year DLA Piper Global Scholarship sponsors up to 50 students, called Fellows, based throughout Africa, South and West Asia, the South Pacific, and Latin America. Currently we have 50 Fellows from 14 countries.

Over their bespoke two-year programme, students have their full tuition paid and receive mentoring, internships, training and career preparation designed to develop their skills, confidence and networks. After finishing, students join our global alumni programme.

The initiative’s success depends on collaboration with universities and other educational centers, our clients, governments and, of course, our people. It is not a recruitment tool: our goal is to support students in developing their careers in whatever direction they choose.

DLA Piper Global Scholarship Benefits

The DLA Piper Global Scholarship benefits include;

Full university tuition payment, for the duration of the Scholarship (two years)
All costs relating to internships which are offered during the Scholarship period (including all transport, food, accommodation, visas, etc.)
Payment for courses and/or events (local, national or international) that benefit professional development
Laptop and/or phone and headphones
High quality internet
Financial support towards relevant study materials (including, text books, subscriptions etc.)
Support towards business attire in preparation of internships

Weeklong development course covering the scholarship opportunity, soft skills and the opportunity to meet lawyers and other Fellows

Piper Global Law Scholarship 2025 Requirements

To be eligible for the undergraduate and postgraduate Piper Global Law Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

Be studying law, and in your last to second last year of study in your home country, or
Have completed a Law degree and have been accepted to pursue a Master’s Degree in a related field in your home country
Currently be achieving, or be expected to achieve a first-class degree, or be in the top 10% of your class
Receive a recommendation from your university
Be a citizen of the country you are applying from
Have a good level of spoken and written English as this will ensure you are able to fully participate in the programme.

Your university academic transcript (evidence of the grades you have achieved at university).
A letter of recommendation from your university (from one of your teachers, Heads of Department of Dean of the Law School).
You will also need to send us a video of yourself, not exceeding 2 minutes, telling us about yourself and why you chose to study law.
