Asido Foundation Essay Competition Details
The Jemila Abubakar Essay Competition is an annual essay competition organized in memory of Miss Jemila Abubakar, the pioneer program manager of Asido Foundation who passed after a brief illness in July 2020.
The competition is opened to undergraduates in Nigerian tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics, school of nursing) and the theme will always be on a topical mental health issue.
Asido Foundation Essay Competition Requirements
To be eligible for the Asido Foundation Essay Competition, applicants must be ready to satisfy the following:
- The applicant must be an undergraduate of any Nigerian tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics, school of nursing);
- Must be able to provide evidence of studentship and
- Sign the Asido Foundation’s Unashamed pledge.
- Essay word count should range from a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1500 words.

- Your essay entry
- A copy of your signed Unashamed pledge
- Proof of studentship e.g School ID
- A copy of your recent passport photograph

Application Procedure
- The essay word count should range from a minimum of 750 and a maximum of 1500 words
- The essay should be in the Microsoft Word Doc format
- You are required to upload a scanned copy of a recent photograph, proof of studentship and a certificate of your unashamed pledge.
- Submitting an AI-generated essay and plagiarism in ANY FORM will lead to automatic disqualification
- Application opens 27th of October and closes 3rd December, 2023 (11:59pm)
