American University Cairo African Scholarships Details
The African Graduate Fellowships program at the American University in Cairo (AUC) stands as an exceptional opportunity for motivated and talented African students, excluding Egyptians, to pursue master’s degrees.
Annually, this program selects students from various African nations for full-time graduate studies in any of AUC’s diverse academic offerings.
American University Cairo African Scholarships Requirements
To be eligible for the American University Cairo African Scholarships, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Non-Egyptian African nationals.
- Holders of a Bachelor of Arts or Science with at least a ‘very good’ overall rating.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
- Fulfillment of AUC’s graduate admissions requirements, including application submission, additional documents, and any requisite test scores (GMAT for MBA; GRE for economics, economics in international development, and GRE or GMAT for finance applicants).
- A qualifying score in the International TOEFL iBT or IELTS exam as per AUC’s standards.
- To maintain the fellowship, students must keep a GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Fellows Responsibilities
- Commitment to 12 hours per week of relevant academic work.
- Maintenance of full-time student status.
- Upholding a minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Completion of mandatory training for teaching assistantship roles, if applicable (only once).
Benefits and Timeline
- Coverage of tuition fees for up to nine credits each semester.
- A monthly living stipend.
- Payment of student services and activities fees.
- Medical service and health insurance fees.
- A monthly housing allowance for non-Cairo residents or accommodation at AUC New Cairo Campus residences.
Duration:
The fellowship spans two academic years and the interceding summer session.
Additional Opportunities:
- Eligible for up to $100,000 in student loans for Master’s in the US or Canada.
