ACGEM Youth Essay Competition Details
The African Center for Governance and Economic Management (ACGEM) is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting essay competition on the theme:
“Embracing Homegrown Democracy in Africa: Unlocking the Potential of African Democracies”.
The ACGEM Youth Essay Competition is in pursuit of fostering intellectual discourse and promoting innovative ideas for the advancement of governance and economic management in Africa.
ACGEM invites young scholars, students, policymakers, and thought leaders from across Africa to engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the subject of homegrown democracy in Africa.
ACGEM Youth Essay Competition Requirements
To be eligible for the ACGEM Youth Essay Competition, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Open to citizens of African countries
- Age: 18-35 years

“Embracing Homegrown Democracy in Africa: Unlocking the Potential of African Democracies”
Submission Guidelines
- Essays should be written in English and should not exceed 5000 words.
- Essays should be formatted in Times New Roman, with a font size of 12, and a line spacing of 1.5.
- Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] and copied to [email protected].
- All submissions should include a cover letter with the participant’s name, contact information, and a brief profile not exceeding 500

Examining how homegrown democratic systems can contribute to development in Africa.
