The Basic Military Training Course is a Short Period Training for recruits to become Airmen and Airwomen, not normally more than 6 months of training.

It is mainly for those who possess Secondary School Certificate, National Diploma certificate, NABTEB, RN/RM/NCE or City & Guild Certificate and Trade Test Certificate.

The BMTC is comprised of Non-Tradesmen/Women with age limit between 18 and 22, and Tradesmen/Women with age limit between 18 and 25.

To be considered for the 2026 Nigerian Air Force BMTC 46 Recruitment, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Meet the prescribed age requirements for the category being applied for.
  • Be medically and physically fit.
  • Be psychologically fit.
  • Meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.
  • Meet the prescribed height requirements.
  • Have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
  • Complete the online application correctly.
  • Provide the required supporting documents when requested.
  • Be willing to undergo the required selection and military training processes.

Height Requirement

Applicants must meet the following minimum height requirements:

  • Male applicants: At least 1.66 metres.
  • Female applicants: At least 1.63 metres.

Tradesmen/Women Requirements

For Tradesmen/Women:

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 27 years by March 1, 2027, according to the recruitment notice provided.
  • Applicants with ND/NCE must have at least Lower Credit in their respective disciplines.
  • Candidates must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBAIS.
  • Applicants applying for drivers and other trades requiring a Trade Test must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in the relevant examination.
  • Driver applicants must additionally possess a valid driving licence.
  • Applicants applying as sportsmen/women must provide evidence of professional sporting experience, including relevant certificates and medals where applicable.

Non-Tradesmen/Women Requirements

For Non-Tradesmen/Women:

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 22 years by March 1, 2027.
  • Applicants must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBAIS.
  • Applicants must also possess a Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.

  • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
  • Local Government Area Attestation Form (signed by an authorised NAF-specified person with required ID and passport photograph)
