The WHO Business Operation Internship is based within the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, which forms part of the WHO Health Emergencies Program.

It works with partners to enable the generation of public health relevant information to provide timely actionable insights in response to health emergencies; improve decision making in response to public health threats.

This internship provides a structured learning opportunity to gain practical experience in operations, information management, digital workplace technologies, and AV/IT service coordination, while developing an understanding of WHO service management, knowledge management, and user support processes.

To be considered for the WHO Internship Program, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled at a recognized university or have graduated within the last 18 months
  • Have completed at least three years of full-time university studies
  • Study one of the following fields:
    • Information Management
    • Computer Science
    • Information Technology
    • Data and Information Systems
    • Related disciplines
  • Have the folowing skills:
    • Communicating effectively orally and in writing
    • Showing willingness to learn from mistakes
    • Producing and delivering quality results
    • Working collaboratively with team members
    • Demonstrating client orientation and attention to detail 
    • Organizing information clearly and systematically
  • Have excellent English language skills
  • German language knowledge is desirable but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. 
  • Exposure to IT and audiovisual technologies, including laptops, mobile devices and hybrid meeting platforms. 
  • Experience supporting meetings, events, projects or administrative activities. 
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools, information management and document organization. 
  • Interest in AI-enabled tools, digital workplace technologies and process improvement.

The 2027 WHO Internship Program is open to candidates pursuing the following programmes;

  • Support hybrid, virtual, and in-person meetings and events
  • Assist in managing SharePoint sites and digital repositories
  • Support IT and audiovisual service documentation
  • Help manage ICT assets such as laptops and mobile devices
  • Assist in AI-enabled workplace initiatives
  • Contribute to digital transformation and automation projects
  • Prepare reports and presentations
  • Support operational improvement activities
  • Assist the Operations and Programme Management Team
