Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship Details
About the Award:
The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are a product of the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), aiming to contribute to the UK’s international development goals. These scholarships support excellence in UK higher education and uphold the principles of the Commonwealth, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The scholarships fall under six themes:
- Science and technology for development
- Strengthening health systems and capacity
- Promoting global prosperity
- Strengthening global peace, security and governance
- Strengthening resilience and response to crises
- Access, inclusion, and opportunity
Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the postgraduate Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
- Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
- Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
- Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard; lower qualifications with sufficient relevant experience may be considered
- Be unable to afford the chosen course without this scholarship

How to Apply:
The CSC’s online application form is now open. Applicants should:
- Apply to study an eligible Master’s course at a participating UK university under the Distance Learning scheme. A list of participating universities and eligible courses can be found HERE.
- Secure admission to the chosen course and apply for a Distance Learning Scholarship.
- Applicants must follow their chosen university’s advice on application timing, admission requirements, and application rules. The CSC only accepts applications submitted via the online application system.
- Applicants can apply for multiple courses and/or universities but may only accept one offer of a Distance Learning Scholarship.
