The agency-nominated Commonwealth Masters Scholarship programme, one of the three scholarships offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission is NOW available for interested applicants.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) provides the UK Government scholarship scheme led by international development objectives.
The CSC operates within the framework of the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) and offers a vivid demonstration of the UK’s enduring commitment to the Commonwealth.
By attracting individuals with outstanding talent and identifiable potential from all backgrounds and supporting them to become leaders and innovators upon returning to their home countries.
Commonwealth Masters Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for this UK Commonwealth Masters Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country or be a British Protected Person.
- Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Be available to commence academic studies in the UK by September 2024.
- Hold a first-degree equivalent to at least an upper second-class (2:1) honors standard by September 2024. If applying for a second Master’s degree, applicants must justify their choice.
- Demonstrate financial need and inability to study in the UK without this scholarship.

- Disabled applicants with potential for international development contribution may be nominated through the Commonwealth Disabled People’s Forum.
- There is no age limit for CSC applications; however, applicants should confirm with their employers regarding leave entitlement and age restrictions, if any.
Commonwealth Masters Scholarship Benefits and Timeline
Recipients of the Commonwealth Masters Scholarship can expect the following benefits:
- Approved airfare from the scholar’s home country to the UK and return at the end of the award.
- Full tuition fees covered in partnership with the UK university.
- Monthly stipend of £1,347 (or £1,652 for those in London).
- Clothing allowance (where applicable).
- Study travel grant for academic-related travel.
- Child allowance of £576.61 per month for the first child and £143 per month for subsequent children under 16, if living with the scholar in the UK.
