The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is inviting applications for the CUHK-MAICS Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship for the 2027–2028 academic year.

CUHK-MAICS Diversity Scholarship covers a full tuition scholarship of HKD$190,000 per annum and monthly cost-of-living stipend amounting to HK$9000 (total: $90,000).

The CUHK-MAICS Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for members of underrepresented groups in postgraduate programmes in Hong Kong universities to pursue a Taught MA degree in Intercultural Studies.

We are looking for applicants who are leaders or trailblazers in different fields of cultural work and whose race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and nationality are not fully represented in our student body.

We also welcome the applications of aspiring scholars who have plans to undertake doctoral research with the potential to make a significant contribution to Cultural Studies and its related fields.

Selected awardees receive a comprehensive financial package that removes financial barriers:

  • A full tuition scholarship of HKD$190,000 per annum

To be considered for the 2027 Chinese University of Hong Kong Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be applying for the Taught MA degree in Intercultural Studies at CUHK.
  • Be a member of an underrepresented group in postgraduate programmes in Hong Kong universities.
  • Preference is given to applicants from eligible Belt and Road Initiative countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
  • Applicants with financial need will receive priority.
  • Applicants should demonstrate leadership or significant potential in cultural work or related fields.
  • Applicants interested in pursuing doctoral research with potential contributions to Cultural Studies and related disciplines are also encouraged to apply.

To complete your application, prepare the following documents in advance:

  • Portfolio of work (e.g., samples of critical, scholarly, or creative work; newspaper articles or press releases about accomplishments)
  • Application form
  • Most recent CV
  • Transcript of grades
  • A 400-500-word statement explaining why their accomplishments in their academic performance and extracurricular activities qualify them for the award.
