The United States Government is inviting applications for the 2025 Fulbright Student Program.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program offers funds used by the grantee to cover room, board, and incidental costs during the grant period. The program also covers round-trip transportation to the host country and a comprehensive health benefit.

The entirety of the costs of your tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance during the corresponding academic period are covered by the scholarship.

The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and various colleges and universities will organize scholarship students, to carry out themed educational activities every academic year, allowing scholarship students to experience China and understand Shanghai.

The scholarship is applicable to undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and undergraduate preparatory studies.

Fulbright Student Program Requirements

To be eligible for the Fulbright Student Program, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Reside in the country of nomination at the time of application. 
  • At the time of program start date, possess the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree with a good academic record. 
  • Are fluent in English, as demonstrated by a recommended recent score of no less than
    • 550 (Paper Based TOEFL),
    • 79-80 (Internet Based TOEFL – IBT), or
    • 6.5(Overall Score International English Language Testing System – IELTS);
    • test scores can be submitted to IIE by indicating the institutional code 2326 on the day of the test .
  • Do not hold U.S. citizenship; dual citizens are not eligible for the program participation.
  • Additional eligibility requirements differ by country of citizenship.
